The Athens Animal Rescue Shelter has responded to animals in need through the generous support of individuals, businesses, and foundations. We provide shelter, food, medical treatment, love and care to every animal that is brought to our facility. Our mission is to promote the humane treatment of animals through care, education, and advocacy.

We work with the ASPCA to transport our dogs to shelters with a shortage of adoptable dogs. This great program helps get more furry friends adopted and into their forever homes!

BISSELL Pet Foundation is hosting its summer 2021 national "Empty the Shelters"adoption event July 7 - 11, 2021, a quarterly effort that has helped more than 53,742 pets find their forever homesin area shelters. During each nationwide event, BISSELL Pet Foundation helps sponsor reduced adoption fees for$25 or less per dog, cat, puppy and kitten.
